I disagree.

If you wait until your business is at $1 million, you may have missed the opportunity to keep it lean and simple from the start. Waiting until that size would most likely mean that you have had to put on additional people to handle the workload and you may have spawned additional processes and workflows (that weren't required), just to keep up.

Once you have found a process or workflow in your business that is proven to work, then it is time to automate.

With the abundance for free or cheap tools, there is no reason you can't get started early. This will allow you to keep your business lean and really see how well your workflows are working before you scale them up.

Much better to learn that lesson early.
